Corn Moon or Sturgeon Moon of September 6, Regenerative Goings-on in Milwaukee and nearby

Hello regenerative-minded friends,
I hope September brings harvests and yields to you memories in your favorite summer places, if your summer is now coming to a close as it is here in Milwaukee. I'm glad I got on the water a few times, and I have at least one more kayak opportunity planned for this month. Plus free boat rides at Sturgeonfest!
Some people in the Great Lakes refer to this moon as the Corn Moon, and others refer to it as the Sturgeon Moon, and others west of here call it the Changing Colors Moon. However the moon is revealing herself to you, the changing seasons are upon us.
Arrivals
September 28th is SturgeonFest/HarborFest at Harbor Plaza in Milwaukee. I will have a booth at this event where I'll be promoting Regenerate MKE, permaculture storytelling and the upcoming Milwaukee Immersion activities (see below). I sponsored a baby sturgeon, and I get to release it after the blessing ceremony that day. But before the ceremony, my sister Jennifer and I will lead a very easy walk/roll from the intersection of Greenfield and First Street to and through the festival in time for the blessing. We depart from that intersection at 11 am walking toward the east.

Departures
Sept 21 Equinox Micro-Immersion near Dayton, Ohio: I will be traveling through Ohio for a food conference and will meet up with Design School for Regenerating Earth colleague Dave Wolf for a short walk and potluck. Message me at regenerateMKE @ g mail . c o m for details to join us.
Meanwhile, I dream up what may be for 2026.
I wanted to share information about this paddle trip which happened in the Pacific Northwest recently:
This event was in Cascadia last month, and I include it because it represents a dream some of us have of witnessing an interconnected paddle around the Great Lakes, with visiting and ceremony along the way. It is already happening in many ways, so I dream of coherence among the groups stewarding the waters and honoring our relations around the water.
Staying Put
Building coherence towards a 2026 Indigenous-led Turtle Island bioregional congress is one of the goals for the r3.0 conference. There may still be time for you to register for the r3.0 conference which begins Sept 9th online. I've got a special code for Milwaukee-based bioregional organizers, so message me soon if you want to coordinate to watch and discuss these sessions to strategize regionally.
Starting October 8th, there will be a four hour/week online Permaculture Design Course in the Design School for Regenerating Earth. Scholarships are available. This is the life-changing permie course I took which frames my regenerative storytelling, and I am hoping to form a Milwaukee-based cohort for peer-mentorship and flowing funding to regenerative projects throughout the city.
Some of us are planning to welcome people to Milwaukee to immerse themselves in the water and conversations about bioregionalism, regeneration, deGrowth, sociocracy and survivable futures. If you might be interested in co-creating this experience with us Oct 16-19, please complete this form:
Also in Milwaukee, the Urban Ag Con organized by Marm Farm October 20th is the following week, as well as the Midwest Climate Resilience Conference

At the Sturgeon Protectors meeting last month I met a new friend who told me about an elder who organized around bioregionalism in Milwaukee a few decades ago. I googled him and here is a video describing some of Rick Whaley's organizing:
